You Are Never Too Old to LIVE a Life of Adventure – Grandma!
I posted a video of 86 year old Johanna Quaas doing an amazing gymnastics routine on the Facebook Fan page. It is no wonder she is a Guinness World Record holder. www.facebook.com/transformingvenus Oct 14, 2015
Another video posted shows Mary Manssen, a 91-year-old great, great grandmother bungee jumping off a cliff in New Zealand. www.facebook.com/transformingvenus Oct 16, 2015.
Ironically, in my book when defining the word adventure, I stated bungee jumping off a cliff in New Zealand was not what I meant when describing the adventure we goddesses (aka women) need to experience—after all, let’s face it, these are extraordinary cases—these women are not the norm.
You are the NORM- Grandma!
The rest of us are the norm—here we are, in our 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. We are grandmas. We need glasses because they print the phone book with smaller print each year. Our hair is graying because we raised children. Funny thing, you need to have children to be a grandma. Luckily our children are fleeing the nest or have already soared.
Our clothes are tighter because our clothes dryers have shrunk them. If we are still blessed to have them in our lives, our parents need our attention more and more each day. Yes, these points represent our reality.
If we look around and consider it, there is some new great stuff happening in our lives. Those of us lucky enough to be blessed with grandchildren get to experience the joy and adventure of watching them explore and learn and in many cases participating on that journey with them.
We can appreciate a renewed sense of adventure in our lives by reliving the fun and excitement of watching tiny beings grow and develop as we, the mature and wise goddess, who despite how busy we still are, has the time and patience to lovingly guide them on their journey.
We are wise women as we have learned from our life experiences. Perhaps we don’t have the tenacity of Johanna the Gymnast or Mary the Bungee Queen, but we still have lots of living to live and our own adventures to find and embrace.
We owe it to ourselves to live our life to the fullest. We need to reconsider everything we have ever dreamed of doing! We need to revisit our younger self and reconsider doing the things she always wanted to do. Taking my own advice, I guess that means I need to take another look at jumping out of an airplane.
Life is an Adventure Grandma–One you are never too old to Live! Go Granny Go!
- Didn’t get to take ballet as a little girl? Do it now!
- Didn’t get to play in a rock band? How about now?
- Always wanted to feel the wind in your hair as you ride on the back of a motorcycle? Do it!
What’s stopping you? If it’s FEAR—that’s just another foul-mouthed four letter F word.
Walk to the edge of the cliff and JUMP—with a parachute of course or a bungee attached to your ankle!
Go Granny Go.
